I subscribed to Maxis Wireless Broadband, the USB one about a week ago and here is my review on it. I paid a one time fee of RM100.00 and charges are RM118.00 per month (with my maxis postpaid account) - please be aware that there is a 5% government tax on it or was it 10% service fee - please check. I will update this site when I get my first bill. My review on Maxis wireless broadband - It sucks big time. Forget about connecting it to P2P and online games - just dream on. I get HSDPA connection throughout in Sri Hartamas - just surfing online could be a pain at times but you get the occasional ok connection - then again my Steamyx connection also sucks big time. Is every household downloading movies on bit torrent sites?

Overall my take is that if you are just the browsing type with occasional emails to send out or need to surf that website on the go, then it is not a bad buy - if you are a bandwidth hungry kind of user, I wouldn’t recommend Maxis wireless broadband. Cancellation after the 7 days trial period - there is a penalty of RM200.00.

I tried my first Carls Jr burger (after it disappeared a long time ago) here in Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur. I was quite shocked at the prices so I asked the counter guy with weird spectacles what he recommended. Obviously he recommended the most expensive burgers on the menu and so I decided on the less expensive of the most expensive ones - Double Western Bacon Burger. The combo set costed me around RM24.00 something for a medium set and in my mind I was say I could get two whopper burgers for this price at Burger King.

Sorry mates, I was so eager to try the burger that I forgo snapping pictures of it and went straight to the bite. Ummm… hmm… double beef, cheese, bacon and crispy onion rings. The crispy onion ring was what made the difference. Saying to myself, I like it. The fries were the freshly cuts one with the kids still attached to the potato, slim cut and fried. Not soggy at all and I have to say this - this is the best french fries so far! Of course it came with refillable soft drinks and what is this I see at the corner, refillable ice tea for those who are not into soft drinks.

Overall the burger I ate was so so… pricey and I could buy one whopper meal combo, one whopper al la carte and onion rings and stuff those onion rings into the whopper and wa la.. a hearty meal! Or I could pop by Chilies and get my usual “Old Timer” burger with coke for less than Carls Jr… Mr Mason Tan, chief executive officer of Aspac F&B SDN. BHD - reduce the price a little?

Found this banned Carls Jr ad with Paris Hilton in it. I dont get it - what a lame commercial and wouldnt have any impact on the burger as well… Next stop Wendy’s…

I watched this movie last night - downloaded it through BitComet and here is what the movie is about :

My comments are the movie is stories about a couple, ex-es, room mates, friends and colleagues f*!@ing each other and there is a story to their experiences. A lot of boobs showing but nothing too sizzling about the movie - kinda funny and a gist of reality as well though we dont get a lot of these kind of things here in Malaysia (not that I know of) but it could happen. An entertaining movie though. AND no its not a XXX porno but it would be banned here in Malaysia - and I have to make this comment - CARLY POPE is hot!

I did some research on Golden Retrievers and it is known that these dogs are really smart or are they really that smart. I got mine for two weeks now and it is currently a two month old golden retriever. Bought it from a breeder and at two months it is already 6.7 kg. To say that it is the smartest dog - I dont know… We managed to toilet train him within 2 days from when we got him but other than that he just wont listen. He terrorised the house with his itchy teeth and bites everything eventhough numerously we told him not to bite. At times, anger gets to us, we had to hit. I read a couple of articles that we are not supposed to hit the dogs but it seems that it is the best resort in order for him to listen.

When it comes to his snack time which he likes, ahhh…. then he’ll listen. Asking him to stay and he will stay until we give him the snack.

TIP : For those considering to take a golden retriever as a pet or any dog as a pet - It takes a lot of commitment. It isn’t easy as it seems. We had to endure a lot of poo and pee (FRUSTRATION, SMELL, DAMAGED GOODS, ETC.) in the house (let’s see more than 10 times of poo and over 10 times of peeing in the house in a span of 24 hours which is very much like a baby) - we keep him indoors as he is still young.

Young dogs require a lot of attention and practically you could be spending all of your time at home with this new pet or cleaning after he has done his business. At first we were putting his pee and poo in a plastic bag with newspaper and throwing it out at the garbage can outside but because of the Malaysian heat and flies, the whole can was infested with flies and maggots. It was a disgusting site. I sprayed it with bug spray but it seems hopeless with maggots. Googled the best way to throw away poo, well - pick it up with a wet tissue or a large tissue (the ones you use for taking out oil - kitchen use) and dump it into the toilet bowl & flush. I found that this method is the best until your dog is big enough to poo and pee outside at the garden.

Walking the dog and taking it out to the garden is another headache. It eats anything in sight - leaves, grass, lizards, ashes - *sigh* - so again constant monitoring. Golden Retrievers seems to like playing with their poo - arrggghhhh… this makes me really mad - stepping on them unintentionally and dirtying its self. Again constant cleaning.

And for those with a tight budget, taking care of pets can be an expensive affair - dog food - ranging from RM39.00 to RM50 per pack which could last you about a couple of weeks if you were to feed it three times a day. From my calculation it is about RM1.00 per meal for the puppy. We feed him bread and snacks as well - another RM14.00. Our golden retriever has gone to the vet twice for check up and jabs (RM90 the first time for indigestion and RM50 for deworming and second vaccination), RM30 for pet hotel if you are away which we did once (always send it to a vet if you need to place him into a pet hotel - they thoroughly check your pet by a vet before placing your pet into a premise - recommend : Sri Hartamas vet, near Maybank), his toys and accessories (RM100.00) and lastly his vitamins (RM50.00). Oh oh.. one last thing - grooming at Mid Valley - RM35.00. Total : *punching the calculator* - too expensive!

Basically to sum up, its like taking care of a baby! So everything has to be considered when taking care of a dog as a pet. No time, no money or no space - forget about owning one. The Golden Retriever’s life is very much dependent on you.

Of all the notebooks I have used, Compaq presario seems hopeless in terms of reliability. I am a heavy notebook user who doesn’t like shutting down the notebook and use it in all conditions - just close the notebook and bring it everywhere I go. After about 1 and the half years of using this compaq, “poop” - motherboard burnt. Everyone knows using diagnostic from HP call center and by looking up through the web that it is a motherboard issue and yet when I send it to HP, they insist that I pay RM95.00 to diagnose the problem even though I have told them that it is a motherboard problem.

Ok fine - after two day they send me a quotation - RM1,900.00. Bloody hell, I could buy a whole new notebook with that amount.

So I paid the RM95.00 - took the notebook and went to TOMS PC at Taman Megah (?) after searching on notebook repair services at Lowyat.net - told you that we could find anything in lowyat.net - he has a small office beside the old Lim Kok Wing building. He can be contacted at 0122208736 - his name is Henry. I got him to look at my notebook saying that he’ll charge me RM30 for the diagnostic. After about 2 day, he called me up and said that he managed to fix the motherboard for RM300.00 and he waived the diagnostic fee. What a nice guy. I was so happy that my notebook has revived! All I have to do now is to send it back to HP and get its extended warranty for RM198.00 per year.

A word of advise to those who finds their notebook faulty after the warranty period. Look for Henry, get him to try to fix it though not all notebooks can be fixed but he’ll try. If this fail, then send it back to your manufacturer and be prepared to pay - it is important to renew your notebook’s extended warranty if you love your notebook like I love mine.
