 PHNOM PENH - A CONDOM lubricant designed for sex workers and gay men has become a popular acne cure among female Cambodians, women in the capital and local media said on Thursday.

Number One Plus, a water-based lubricant produced by health organisation Population Services International (PSI), is an excellent cure for acne, 29-year-old vendor Tep Kemyoeurn told AFP.

‘After I used it for three days, all of my acne dried up and went away,’ she said. ‘Many people believe in it,’ she added.

Khen Vanny, 29, from Phnom Penh, told AFP that women of all ages have taken to using the lubricant to get rid of spots.

‘It is very effective. Some people don’t believe in it but people who do really get a good result,’ she said, adding: ‘My youngest sister and my aunt use it too.’

Another woman told Khmer-language Kampuchea Thmey newspaper that she had used many kinds of medicine to treat acne but none had worked.

‘After that my friends, who work at garment factories in Phnom Penh, advised me to apply the lubricant from Number One Plus condoms on my face every night,’ she told the paper.

‘And just within three to four nights, the acne on my face gradually and then totally disappeared,’ she added.

A vendor near a factory in the coastal city of Sihanoukville told the newspaper that she sold packets of Number One Plus lubricant for 500 riels (17 Singapore cents) to many women every day.

The paper urged experts to conduct research about the phenomenon.

Now why are all the women and some men out there wasting money on facials and cosmetic surgeries - just get a condom and spread those lubricants on to your face or affected area… yuck! some people would just do anything to make up a story but if this is true, then a lot of beauty shops would go bankrupt.

what does the word “Merdeka” mean? Merdeka to me is just a word - born in the mid 1970s, frankly I never knew the true meaning of Malaysia’s Independence. Yes every year on the 31st August there is a holiday (which I look forward to) and a parade and it is shown live on tv everytime (I dont even watch it) but does everyone born in my time or later know the true meaning? are they that patriotic - shouting Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! or are they just saying it because everyone is saying it as well. Would anyone in this century put themselves ahead of their country - sacrificing their lives for independence like what we read in our history books? hmmm…I dont think anyone would do so… if our political leaders wont do it, my guess no one will.

I must apologies for not blogging too often as I have been rather busy lately. I am in the print and Information technology industry and this industry has been my passion ever since I joined Xerox years ago.

Lately I have been busy trying to secure a multi-million dollar deal - so in order to secure this deal, let me tell you it isn’t a walk in the park. A lot of attention to detail, account management and network building or should I say entertainment. Even with all of the above, it still doesn’t guarantee you that you will secure the deal but one thing for sure that might help is your relationship with the stakeholders of the project and giving confidence that you can do the job and do it well.

I have made numerous presentations to the committee team and preparation is key - putting the presentation in place and ensuring everything is covered is tiring but that has been my forte a long time ago, presentation and building solutions is something I am good at.

The hardest part of every sales process is closing and it is also the key. A lot of people can sell but not many people know how to close but in this deal, closing is key - in your presentation to the board ask for closing - ask when the agreement can be signed and ensure that it is done. The sale is not done until the agreement is signed.

I wish I could write more but I am a little burned out from the tons of work, customer lunches, late night drinks, managing multiple projects and burning the midnight oil trying to make this deal work. In every digital print business, you have to offer value. If you are venturing into the print business now, you got to know what your competitive edge against the rest. I know mine, do you? Now you are going to ask me can a digital print business seal a multi million dollar contract. My answer to you is “YES” and that is my secret. Stay tune and I may just reveal these digital printing industry secrets.

I just finished the badminton men’s match between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan. All I could say was that Lin Dan was on fire. The 39 minute match was a disappointment - Lin Dan dominated every game like he was indestructible. Lee looked hopeless but despite it all I am happy that Lee played a unbelievable match and brought us home a silver medal - though all Malaysians had hoped that it would be our first Olympic gold medal but … I am proud of a silver any way. Thank you Lee Chong Wei for bringing home our only Olympic medal. Lee Chong Wei won the silver medal in the badminton men’s singles after losing in the final to China’s Lin Dan 12-21, 8-21.

By the way, what’s with the tiger track suit. Wasn’t that worn like ages ago - old stock needed to be cleared? Malaysians should be more creative with their designs - please please change the track suit design to something better.

Another blogger wrote “I have only one wish for our athletes — that their attire is given a new design. Our present orange with tiger stripes is totally inappropriate and uncool. I know its purpose is to invoke the fighting spirit of the Malayan tiger in our athletes and strike fear in our opponents but I’m sure everyone is having a good laugh.

You don’t see the English being dressed up like lions or the Chinese like panda bears!

So, to those responsible for designing the Malaysian outfit, please use our traditional royal yellow or the blue and red colours of our flag.

We do have a chance of winning medals at the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics and I would hate to see our athletes on the podium looking like Tony, the Tiger of Kellogg’s Frosties.”
